Chapter Three

Last night, even though I’d committed to have sex for the first time with Jimmie, I keep thinking of the dreamy looking blond haired Rob. It was obvious I preferred Rob. I wish I knew if he’s still going with Angela. And since sex with Jimmie hadn’t worked out and now I was supposed to see Rob, I wondered if Rob was meant to take my virginity.

I woke up late and lounged around. I wanted to arrive at the convenience store around noon in case Rob wanted to buy me lunch. Though it was only April, the weather warmed up early. I donned a short, sexy, light, summery, lavender and white dress and white, open toed sandals and headed for Stop and Shop, and my appointment with Rob. I peeked in the window. I saw a man and a woman, but not Rob. Then to my surprise I felt a rough hand on my bare shoulder. “Beautiful Bella.”

I spun around and beheld Rob’s bright white smile and friendly, blue eyes. “Hi Rob. Here I am, as promised.”

His smile grew wider and if possible whiter. “So I see, I’m glad you came.” He paused and looked down. “I remembered you were supposed to come by and looked forward to it, but, stupid me, I went off and left your present in my night stand drawer. “

“You did?”

His gaze returned to me. “Ah-huh, unfortunately. If you’re not doing anything, I’d like to take you there and give it to you.”

“I’d like that, but don’t you have to go into work?”

“No, mom and dad are in there. I just come in and relieve them when I can.” Shivers ran down my arms and legs as he took my hand. “My car is right around the corner.”

His car was a thirteen year old, red Pontiac GTO. He opened the door and I slid in. Sitting in the driver’s seat he started the car and peeled out.

After glancing back at the strips of rubber he left on the pavement, I turned around. With a console between us, I couldn’t sit next to him like I wanted soe I did the next best thing—I set my hand on his thigh. He sighed and seemed to grow tense. After a couple of minutes, I asked, “Are you still going with Angela?”

His gaze shifted to me for an instant. “We haven’t officially broken up, but except for a couple days at Christmas time, I haven’t seen her since she enrolled in Boston College last August.”

I felt surprise and was sure it showed. “She goes to school in Boston? That must be a thousand miles.”

He nodded. “Almost. I looked it up. It’s nine hundred-twenty miles.”

“Without thinking I slipped and then covered my mouth, “You must be horny as hell.”

He laughed. “It’s all right. Yes, you could say that. I’m not like you. I couldn’t wait until I turned eighteen.”

I snickered. “It’s not like I didn’t do anything. I did plenty, just no intercourse.”

It seemed like almost no time had past, when he pulled in a driveway and said, “Here we are.
